Announcing the MFWC&YA
5th Annual Alumni Mini-Residency at
Vermont College of Fine Arts
July 13-15, 2012

Vermont College of Fine Arts announces the fifth annual MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults Mini-Residency. Held on the Montpelier campus each July, this event combines elements of an alumni reunion, professional networking event, and a shortened version of the traditional VCFA residency.
 
This “mini-residency” offers many benefits to our MFA-WCYA alumni/ae, including:
 
·        The chance to rigorously workshop a piece with a professional editor and a group of writing peers 
·        Inside information on the business end of writing from established editors and agents in the field
·        An opportunity to jumpstart your writing in a familiar and supportive environment
 
This year’s Alumni Mini-Rez will be held July 13–15, 2012, with a plethora of offerings through the weekend, including:
 
  • Master Classes with award-winning author Linda Sue Park
  • Presentations by visiting editors and agents
Editors: Tamra Tuller from Philomel, Michelle Poploff from Random House, Kari Sutherland of Harper Collins, Elizabeth Law from Egmont, and Kathy Landwehr from Peachtree
Agents: Erzsi Deak, Stephen Barbara and Jenny Bent. 
 
  • Small group workshops led by guest editors; (space limited to 60 participants, 5 per workshop)
  • Lectures by VCFA faculty
  • Open discussions and readings with fellow alumni, editors and agents
  • Auction – Friday, July 13th proceeds to support the VCFA general fund and MFWC&YA scholarships; please bring or send items to donate!
  • Special reception celebrating the 15th anniversary of the MFA WC&YA Program!
  • Dance on Saturday, July 14th
      
Registration Fee:  $300 / $350 with Critique by Editor
Add Meal Plan: $90
Registration deadline May 15, 2012 or until filled
 

LODGING OPTIONS: 

As in past years, due to the growing student enrollment, there is no housing available on campus. However we have arranged for a special room rate at Capitol Plaza from Thursday, July 12 through Sunday, July 15, 2012 at $129 a night. Limited rooms are available so call today or room with a friend!
