Executive Director of Institional Advancement

Mary Welz brings 19 years of fundraising experience to VCFA. In her most recent position, Mary was a senior development officer in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at Norwich University. During her career she established two successful fundraising operations at higher-education institutions, and in her position as director of development for the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC), Mary helped grow the VSAC endowment from $40,000 to over $3 million in three years.

 
Prior to VSAC, Mary served for five years as Director of Development in the Office of the Chancellor for the Vermont State Colleges, helping to spearhead an endowment campaign that reached and its exceeded its goal half-way through the campaign.  Previous to that, she worked at Goddard College for five years where she began her first foray into fundraising. 
 
She is a two-time award winner from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and is a past board member of the Upper Valley Planned Giving Council. 
 
Mary holds a bachelor of arts degree from Vermont College, and an MFA in Writing from Goddard College.  Her graduate thesis focused on the role of landscape as a protagonist in literature, and her creative thesis was a collection of short stories entitled “My Brother’s a Soldier.”  She has taught writing at Goddard College and the Community College of Vermont.
 
Mary  and her husband John live live in the College neighborhood.  They have four grandchildren and will welcome the arrival of another in May. She recently rescued a lab-mix gregarious  and energetic puppy named Cooper who can be found sniffing the floor of her office for edible objects.
 
 

 

Kelley Bordeleau Lamb

Director of Development & Alumni Affairs

 

 

Kelley Bordeleau Lamb is originally from a very small town in northern New York near the St.Lawrence River. She attended St. Lawrence University, in Canton, NY. While there, Kelley studied in Spain and earned her B.S. in Psychology and Spanish. She decided to stay at SLU for one more year after graduation to earn her M. Ed. in Counseling and Human Development.

For eight years, Kelley worked at Tilton School, an independent boarding school in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. At Tilton, Kelley had several roles including World Languages Department Chair, Spanish and French teacher, student advisor, coach, and dormitory parent. Following her time at Tilton, Kelley worked at the University of New Hampshire as an academic advisor for undeclared Liberal Arts students.

Kelley has lived in Vermont since September 2008 when she joined the VCFA staff as the Assistant to the President. She moved to the Office of Institutional Advancement in November 2011. She lives in Calais with her husband and sons.
