Louise Hawes

Louise Hawes has published books for readers of all ages. Her novels for middle graders and young adults have earned two NJ Writing Fellowships, the New Jersey Author's Award, and recognition from the Children's Book Council, IRA, YALSA, Bank Street College, Booksense, and the NYC Public Library. Louise has published short fiction in four YA anthologies, while her stories for adult readers are collected in Anteaters Don’t Dream (University Press of Mississippi, 2007). Recent projects include dark tales for older teens (Black Pearls, a Faerie Strand, Houghton Mifflin, 2008) and A Flight of Angels, a graphic novel (2011). In addition to lecturing at conferences and colleges nationwide, Louise has served as John Grisham Visiting Author at the University of Mississippi, Writer in Residence at the University of New Mexico, and Reading Initiative Author at Mississippi University for Women.
