The Passion of Dolssa, written by Julie Berry, WCYA ’08, was named a Printz Honor Book. The Michael L. Printz Award is for excellence in literature written for young adults. The Passion of Dolssa is also a finalist for the 2017 Los Angeles Times Book Prize.

The annual list of Outstanding International Books for children and young adults, selected by the U.S. national section for the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), includes two titles with ties to VCFA:

Book Uncle and Me, by Uma Krishnaswami, WCYA faculty, was selected for the Grades 3-5 category.

The Pact Written, by Amanda West Lewis, current WCYA student, was selected for the Grades 6-8 category.
