Multiple “premiere parties” and events featuring music written by VCFA students and performed by world-class musicians filled the week. Even if you missed those, you can still catch the encore!

FILM & MEDIA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Sunday, February 7, at 8 pm ET | In visual media, music is often the secret partner in storytelling, embodying the internal states of the characters in the narrative. This event will feature a variety of approaches to the marriage of music to picture, as offered by VCFA students, faculty, and alumnx—from fiction films, to animation, video art, webisodes, documentaries, game scores, and jingles. The intent is to explore and celebrate the diversity of music-to-picture relationships.
ELECTRONIC MUSIC SHOWCASE
Monday, February 8, at 8 pm ET | An evening of electronic sound and multimedia: VCFA students and faculty perform new work for instruments with live electronic sound and video.
Monday, February 8, immediately following the Electronic Music Showcase | This event highlights VCFA composer-improvisers’ work whose defining elements reside in performance by improvising musicians. Performances will include the composer as improviser.
Wednesday, February 10, at 8 pm ET | An evening featuring work which, though performable by anyone, is illuminated by being heard in the composer’s hand/voice/mind.
Friday, February 12, at 8 pm | The Songwriting Showcase highlights the diverse songwriting and performing talents of the students, alumnx, and faculty of VCFA’s MFA in Music Composition.
DIANE MOSER MEMORIAL CONCERT
